Coram-West Glacier firefighters ball this Saturday
The Coram-West Glacier Fire Department is having its 45th annual firefighters ball to raise money for the new fire hall in Coram at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Dew Drop Inn in Coram. Ball features the Don Lawrence Orchestra.
The department is planning on breaking ground on the new hall on Sept. 23. The project, which will cost about $1 million when completed, will feature a modern, 6,960 square foot, five-bay facility and equipment to protect homes and businesses in the Coram-West Glacier area.
The new hall will be located on land adjacent to the Glacier Grill on Highway 2 and Seville Lane in Coram. Site work has been ongoing for the past couple of years.
Local contractor Camas Creek Contracting has won the bid to construct the hall.
The existing hall in Coram is little more than a garage that was built in 1980 — it doesn’t even have a water supply.
The grand prize at this year’s ball is a one-hour Kruger Helicopter Service tour for two people to be used by Sept. 30. Other great prizes will be up for grabs and auction with professional auctioneer Mark Vasser.
