Bird talk

Flathead Audubon will offer an informational program featuring local bird expert Joshua Covill on Monday, Sept. 9 from 7- 9 p.m. in the Gateway West Community Meeting Room in Kalispell. Joshua and his wife spent five months in South America exploring their passion for birds. The program is free and open to the public. Author talk

Montana House welcomes guest author John Clayton for a presentation and book signing on Monday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. Please join us to learn about John’s recently published book. “Natural Rivals, John Muir, Gifford Pinchot, and the Creation of America’s Public Lands.” After the presentation Clayton will be available to sign copies of his book. Avalanche talk

Erich Peitzch, a physical scientist with the USGS will give at talk at noon Sept. 11 about how avalanches affect the resources, landscape, and people in and around Glacier National Park at the Montana House in Apgar.

WildFest

The Montana Wilderness Association will be holding WildFest, a two-day event celebrating wildlands this Friday and Saturday in Columbia Falls. Talks and events will be at the Cedar Creek Lodge and the Coop, as well as guided local hikes and trail stewardship project in the Jewel Basin. Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber will have its September meeting Sept. 10 at the community center on Nucleus Avenue starting at 11:45 a.m. Guest speaker is School District 6 superintendent Steve Bradshaw and the new school staff.

Antique engines, tractors

The annual antique engine, threshing bee, tractor and car show is Sept. 6, 7, 8 at Olsen Pioneer Park on Helena Flats Road. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for kids 6-12, and free for younger kids. Event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
