Another multiplex building to be added on Diane Road
The Columbia Falls city council Monday night approved a conditional use permit for a 12-plex on Diane Road.
Developer Randy Jones asked for the change in the permit because the lot is abut twice the size of the other lots in the Diane Road area. Most of Diane Road residences are multi-plex buildings and most were built by Jones over the years.
The planning board last week approved the permit and council followed suit.
The construction of the 12-plex means the subdivision is nearly built out. One condition of the permit is that Jones will pay $1,500 toward the city park’s fund.
The city maintains Horine Park, which is nearby and used by neighborhood children.
Council previously approved an eight-plex at the site in 2015. One resident, Samantha Domph, raised concerns about parking, suggesting there be a no parking zone near the corner lot, as it’s a 90-degree corner with poor sight lines.
The city said putting in a no parking area near the building would be appropriate.
