Community dinners

For the next three months Canyon Community dinners will be held a week early due to the way the holidays fall. October will be the 24th, November will be the 21st and December will be the 19th. Dinners run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Canyon Elementary School. Any questions call Luann 261-1083 or Flo 250-3406.

CROP walk

Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty is celebrating its 50th walk in the USA. This year Columbia Falls is celebrating it’s 11th walk and The Wildcat Gardens will benefit from the walk this year. Join us at Marantette Park Oct. 13 to register at 1 p.m. The walk starts at 1:30 p.m. The routes are a 1K or 5K and there’s a barbecue afterwards. Help us to celebrate 50 years of hunger walks. History meets

The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls for a meeting and presentation. The business meeting will include committee reports. The presentation will be given by Johanna Hartsey on James Talbott, who is considered to be the founding father of Columbia Falls. Coffee and cookies will be served. Members of the society are presently putting together their 2020 calendar. Any business that would like to help sponsor the calendar by placing a business card size ad is encouraged to call either 270-4086 or 249-8198 before the end of October.

Women meet

Columbia Falls Women’s Connection will have a luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the North Valley Hospital Community Room in Columbia Falls. Guest speakers will be Jen Prunty from My Glacier Village will share how the local nonprofit helps seniors and Cathy Benson from the Flathead Valley will share her story. Cost is $8 and all women are welcome to attend. For reservations call Candy at 387-4119 or Janet at 892-3621 by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. Affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.

Fall fest

The Columbia Falls Lions Club will host a Fall Festival at the Coop Saturday with a 5K fun run, lunch and games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The race starts and ends at the Coop, Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for a child. Toastmasters

The Columbia Falls Toastmasters meet from noon-1 p.m. at the Freedom Bank lower conference room. Toastmasters can help with valuable communication and leadership skills. It meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m. and the fourth Thursday from 6:45-8 p.m. Oct. 24 will be an open house meeting. Public is welcome.
