Glacier National Park has extended the comment period on the Going-to-the-Sun Road corridor management plan for another month.

The Park will now will accept comments through November 6.

The park is extending the comment period due to public interest and requests the park received during a public meeting earlier in September in Kalispell.

At that meeting, one participant suggested the Park also hold a public meeting to include the east side communities.

The plan includes a host of changes in the corridor, including making larger parking lots, tunneling under the Sun Road at St. Mary for a pedestrian path, more shuttle stops, longer shuttle hours, adding trails and closing parts of Avalanche campground for more parking.

“We appreciate the feedback we’ve received thus far, and look forward to hearing from more people as we develop proposals for transportation, visitor use, recreation experience, and resource protection along the Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor,” said Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow in a release.
