Night of Lights

The North Valley Senior Center will have a soup, chili, hot dogs and bake sale during Night of Lights from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6. All proceeds benefit the center.

The annual Canyon Community Thanksgiving Dinner is Thursday, Nov. 21. The menu is turkey with all the trimmings and topped off with a delicious pumpkin dessert from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Canyon Elementary. Any questions feel free to call Flo 250-3406 or Luann 471-1083.

permits

Christmas tree permits for the Flathead National Forest are $5. Tree permit online at openforest.fs.usda.gov/christmas-trees/forests/flathead or at a Flathead National Forest office in Kalispell, Bigfork, or Hungry Horse. Flathead National Fourth graders are eligible for a free tree permit as part of the Every Kid Outdoors initiative by printing out an Every Kid Outdoors pass voucher from the program’s website, and bringing it to a Flathead National Forest office to exchange for a permit. Every Kid Outdoors tree permits cannot be obtained via Open Forest.

People should pay attention to the species of trees available for cutting, and take a moment to review guidelines to ensure that harvest activities improve forest health.

Free meals

Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will be serving free, delicious dinners at 6 p.m. (including a Thanksgiving meal) beginning Nov. 27 - through Nov. 30. Meals are nondenominational. For more information, contact St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
