Fatal wreck on Highway 2
Law enforcement and emergency personnel were on the scene of a fatal accident near Wishart Road and Highway 2 Friday afternoon. An eastbound logging truck struck a larger four-wheel drive ATV.
The driver of the ATV was killed in the accident. He apparently made a U-turn in front of the logging truck, according to Montana Highway Patrolman Josh Nanna. The two collided and the truck driver then tipped and spilled its load onto the ATV.
The driver of the tractor trailer truck was reportedly not seriously injured, according to witnesses. No other people were reportedly involved, witnesses said.
The accident was just north of Glacier Park International Airport and road was closed in the area, as multiple logs were covering the roadway.
Motorists should avoid the area if possible. Numerous emergency personnel were on the scene, including Columbia Falls Fire Department, Three Rivers EMS and GPIA emergency vehicles.
