Columbia Falls has started surveying residents on how best to manage the popular River’s Edge Park in the city as it looks to add amenities like a bathroom, with running water.

City staff were at the Community Market at the Coop last week and will be there again this week.

The survey forms are also available online at: https://cityofcolumbiafalls.org

The survey asks people basic questions like their age, how often they use the park, if they’ll use the new fishing pond, what type of activities are good for the park and what amenities they’d like to see.

It also touches on the feral cat problem in the park and any other concerns folks might have.

In other city news from Monday night’s meeting:

- Council approved abandoning a couple of alleyways and unused properties. On Fifth Street, the city abandoned a section of old roadway so an adjacent property owner would have adequate off-street parking. It also put the property on the tax rolls.

Between Third and Fourth Avenue the city abandoned an old alleyway so that adjacent property owners can settle land ownership issues. Apparently the alleyway already has at least a couple of sheds on it. That will also put the land on the tax rolls.
