Memorial Day walk

American Legion Freedom Post 72 will host its annual veterans walk from Welcome Park to the river Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 beginning at 11 a.m. Any veterans and their families are invited to join the walk, which will end with a ceremony at the river to recognize the fallen heroes buried at sea and the Vietnam Blue Water Navy. For those who cannot make the walk, rides will be available in an open trailer. After the walk, there will be a short service at Marantette Park, followed by a barbecue.

Youth golf clinic

Meadow Lake Golf Course will host a free junior golf clinic beginning at 9 a.m. June 13, 20 and 27. The clinic is open to golfers ages 7-17. For more information, contact the golf course at 406-892-2111.

Fire meeting

West Glacier will have a community fire prevention and forecast meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 6 at the Montana House in Apgar. All community members are invited to attend. Glacier Park, state, county and West Glacier fire officials will be on hand to attend.

Community market

The Columbia Falls Community Market will be Thursday night at the Coop starting at 5:30 p.m. Music is Eric Alan and Rick Martinez, spirits from the Whistling Andy Distillery and beer from the Draught Works Brewery. May 30 will feature music by Pedacter Project, spirits from the Montgomery Distillery and beer from Great Northern Brewing.

PTO sale

The Ruder PTO will have a community yard sale at the school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 1. Purchase a sale space for $10. Deadline for vendors is May 24. Email ptoruder@gmail.com to register.

Bird outing

Flathead Audubon will be sponsoring a field trip on Saturday, May 25, from 7 a.m. until noon with wildlife biologist Steve Gniadek. To sign up, contact Steve at grayjaybro@yahoo.com.

Wildlife show

Photographer Sumio Harada will have a “Celebration of Wildlife” show at the Montana House in Apgar at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. May 25. Harada followed a host of species through the seasons last year in Glacier. Program is free, but reservations are required. Call 888-5393 to make a reservation.

Beers for Farm

Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish, will be hosting a Pints With Purpose fundraising event this Thursday, May 23, 5 p.m. to closing. A dollar from each beer sold will be donated to Farming For the Future Academy’s summer programs at the Montana Veterans Home. Camps are free for campers of all ages and abilities. Free meal

The monthly free meal in Hungry Horse is May 30. The menu is brats and sauerkraut, hot bacon salad, broccoli, and topped of with a rhubarb crumble. Served between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. at Canyon Elementary. Any questions please feel free to call Flo 250-3406 or Luann 261-1083.
