Cold, wet, system headed this way
The weather honeymoon is over. The National Weather Service is saying a cold, wet system should descend on the region today, tomorrow and into the weekend.
Valley floors will see .5 to .75 inch of rain, while higher terrain will see 1 to 1.5 inches of rain.
Snow levels should be fairly high, about 8,000 feet Friday, dropping to 6,000 feet by the weekend. Marias Pass could see a skiff of snow, but significant snow isn’t expected.
The region also shouldn’t see flooding, but rivers and streams will certainly get higher and will be swift and dangerous.
Temperatures will be much colder than they have been, with highs only in the 40s and 50s and lows in the 30s at night.
In the extended forecast, next week should be cold and wet as well.
