Wilson, Mumby win

Longtime incumbent Larry Wilson and newcomer Heather Mumby won seats on the School District 6 Board of Trustees in last Tuesday’s election.

Wilson garnered 898 votes, Mumby 696, David Shaffer 519 and Bruce Crockett 451.

Turnout was light, at just 14 percent of registered voters.

Fire meeting

West Glacier will have a community fire prevention and forecast meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 6 at the Montana House in Apgar. All community members are invited to attend. Glacier Park, state, county and West Glacier fire officials will be on hand to attend.

Wildlife show

Photographer Sumio Harada will have a show “Celebration of Wildlife” show at the Montana House in Apgar at 11 a.m. at 2 p.m. May 25. Harada followed a host of species through the seasons last year in Glacier. Program is free, but reservations are required. Call 888-5393 to make a reservation.

Toastmasters

Columbia Falls Speaks Toastmasters meets May 21 from Noon-1 p.m. at Freedom Bank lower conference room. Free and open to the public, Toastmasters hones one’s communication skills. For more information contact Kristi Hatfield 406-871-7999

Choir concert

Columbia Falls High School Choirs will present their Senior Spring Concert Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in the CFHS Little Theater. We will feature all of our choirs, as well as songs chosen by this year’s graduating seniors. Free and open to the public.

Community market

The Columbia Falls Community Market kicks off the summer season Thursday night at the Coop starting at 5:30 p.m. Music is by Dodgy Mountain Men, distillery is Headframe Spirits and brewer is Backslope Brewing.

History talk

The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, May 16, at 7 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. Highlight of the evening will be a video and presentation by Clarence Taber on the Lake Missoula floods. Coffee and cookies will be served.

Bunco Party

The United Methodist Church will host a bunco party at it fellowship hall at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 18. The $10 entrance fee will benefit Womenweave, a women’s co-operative in Guatemala.

PTO sale

The Ruder PTO will have a community yard sale at the school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 1. Purchase a sale space for $10. Deadline for vendors is May 24. Email ptoruder@gmail.com to register.

Fun Run

The Farming For the Future Academy at the Montana Veterans Home will hold a 5K fun run May 24 at 5 p.m. starting at the Veterans Home. There will be refreshments, games, music and racers can tie-dye their shirts after the race. Folks can walk, run, crawl or ride a donkey if they choose. Entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Garden Gallop

Columbia Falls Junior High Wildcat Garden will have a “Garden Gallop” run 3k fun run, (veggie costume wearing recommended), garden tour, plant sale, and local goodies such as Montana Coffee Traders coffee, Hammer Nutrition snacks, and raffle tickets. The cost is free, but all donations to support the garden at the school will be accepted. Shirts are $11. Check in is 8:45 a.m. May 18 at the school.
