Softball teams earn third in Polson tourney
Several Columbia Falls youth softball teams were in action at the Polson Splash Classic over the weekend, where two squads came away with third-place finishes.
The C-Town Rebels 16/18 and Under team went 0-3 in pool play Friday before winning two of three in elimination play to finish third.
The team opened bracket play with a 10-4 win over the Flathead Breeze and advanced to face the Polson Purple Rain in the semifinals.
C-Falls led Polson 1-0 after four innings, but the Purple Rain scored eight runs in the final two innings to grab the win.
McKenna Rensel, Savvy Ellis, Haylee Lawrence and Jayden Hamilton all had hits for C-Falls in the loss.
The Rebels bounced back with a 7-2 win over Eureka to finish third. No stats were available.
The 12 and Under C-Falls team also took second in its division, going 2-1 in pool play before losing to the Polson Purple Wave 11-7 in the semifinals and defeating the Bitterroot Sparks 11-7 in the consolation game to earn third.
The 14 and Under C-Falls team also went 2-1 in pool play, but lost to the Frenchtown Fury in the opening round of bracket play, 5-2.
The 10 and Under C-Town Rebels went 0-2-1 in pool play before losing to Mission Valley in the opening round of pool play, 11-3.
The tournament also hosted a home run derby, where Columbia Falls’ Maddi Collins won first in the 14 and Under division while teammate Sydney Mann was second.
