Hungry Horse News wins photo, writing awards
The Hungry Horse News won several 2018 Montana Newspaper Awards. Jeremy Weber won for best sports feature on a story about Mick Ruis’s horse qualifying for the Kentucky Derby. Chris Peterson won the Mark Henckel Outdoors Writing award for a piece on the 40th anniversary of the Great Bear Wilderness.
Peterson also won for best front page, best news photo (of the Howe Ridge Fire), and best layout and design.
Weber also swept first, second and third for best sports photo.
The newspaper also won for best ad to sell or promote a product.
The newspaper also placed in several other categories.
The Hungry Horse News competes in the Division II weeklies in the state, with circulation of 1,250 to 2,000.
