Firefighters investigated the smell of burning rubber from a garage on Nucleus. Nothing was found. Report of a person stuck in a fence on Ninth Street. Police helped him get home.
June 5
A person called wanting to know how to dispose of mace and bear spray. Another door and window were broken at the old Union Hall.
June 6
A car hit a truck with a wood chipper on Highway 2 and then left the scene. No damage to the chipper, but the airbag deployed on the car and it kept going with smoke pouring out of it. The car got away before police could stop it. Report of some goats getting loose, doesn’t say where. Report of a man screaming “help me” at Cedar Pointe.
June 7
Kids crossing Highway 2 on bikes nearly caused a crash. Police counseled them. A dump truck dumped gravel on Highway 2; firefighters responded to help clean it up. Report of fists flying after a road rage incident on Highway 2. Report of a guy driving a big pickup pulling a trailer while drinking a beer on Highway 2.
June 8
Crossing arms down but no train in sight on Talbott Road. A man on First Avenue was knocking on doors and claimed to be doing “research from Europe.” People thought he was a creep and called police.
June 9
A black bear running around the west end of town was causing a stir. Reckless driver on River Road. Police chased a male down who may have had items from a thrift store. Police “moved along” some youths in a van who were listening to music outside a person’s home.
June 10
Vicious dog on Second Avenue. A person was allegedly selling drugs out of an RV on 6th Street. Black bear sighted on 10th Street. Runaway juvenile reported from Diane Road residence.
