Community market

The Columbia Falls Community Market will be Thursday night at the Coop starting at 5:30 p.m. Music by Jameson and the Sordid Seeds, spirits from Willie’s Distillery and beer from Bozeman Brewing. On June 20 it’s Flathead Lake Brewing, Whistling Andy’s Distillery and music by Luke Lautaret Project.

Bible School

A vacation Bible school for the community will be offered June 17-21 by Our Savior’s Lutheran, Columbia Falls United Methodist, and St. Richard’s Catholic Churches. Camp counselors from Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp will lead the program. The VBS will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 401 7th Street West, from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for children entering grades 1-6. Bring a sack lunch if possible. All are invited. Power outage

Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, some members of Flathead Electric Cooperative in the Columbia Falls areas of Chub Lane, Witty Lane, and Tamarack Lane, may experience an interruption in electrical service due to a two-stage house relocation from Columbia Falls to Kalispell, Flathead Electric Co-op announced. Movers are planning to transport the 24-foot structure to Half Moon Road in the morning, where it will be parked until transporting resumes at 10 p.m. to avoid interfering with daytime traffic patterns.

At that point, the house will move east on US Highway 2 east to Highway 206, then south to Berne Road. Eventually movers will make their way to Highway 35 then to Montford Road with the ultimate destination of a field near Jaquette Road. For safety reasons, the move will require Flathead Electric to temporarily disconnect power as the building travels intermittently along a path of power lines.

The estimated duration of the service interruption for those in the vicinity of Halfmoon Road near Montana Hwy 40 will be approximately an hour, but most members should only be impacted for 30 minutes or less.

Painting sale

For the last 12 years, the Hockaday Museum of Art has hosted Plein Air Glacier: Paint Out, an effort to continue the timeless tradition of painting in America’s National Parks. This year, artists will gather June 14-21 to paint outdoors in the fresh air (“en plein air”) in Glacier National Park and the nearby Swan and Flathead Valleys. Works created during this time will be visible to the public and available for purchase at the Hockaday during this special party and sale Saturday, June 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the museum. Paintings will be offered at fixed prices to benefit the Museum and artists will be present to tell their stories behind the works.
