Plein air display at Hockaday
The Hockaday Museum of Art announces the Plein-Air Painters of America’s Going-to-the-Sun exhibition.
The Plein Air Painters of America (PAPA) are the original society of outdoor painters. Their mission is to promote the tradition of painting the landscape directly from life, while providing members and others the opportunities to expand their knowledge through shared experience, extraordinary workshops, and public exhibitions.
PAPA came to Glacier National Park in the fall of 2018 to explore and paint the majestic park. This show will include plein air and studio works from their paint out.
The exhibition runs through Aug. 3.
Nationally renowned artists participating in the exhibit include Doug Andelin, Kenn Backhaus, Mitch Baird, John Budicin, John Burton, Jill Carver, Russell Case, Lorenzo Chavez, Len Chmiel, Gil Dellinger, Kathleen Dunphy, Gerald Fritzler, Lynn Gertenbach, Tom Hughes, Joan M. LaRue, Jean LeGassick, Jim McVicker, Jim Morgan, Ned Mueller, Ralph Oberg, Billyo O’Donnell, Jean Perry, Jesse Powell, Matt Smith, Kathryn Stats, George Strickland, Linda Tippetts and Dan Young.
Works from the exhibit will be available for purchase with a percentage of the proceeds supporting the Hockaday Museum and the PAPA Society.
