But some people are just doing plain old dumb things.
Last week during a construction delay on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, some visitors decided it might be fun to hit golf balls off the highway.
The incident was captured by visitor Misty Morrow and broadcast by NBC Montana on July 19. Park officials are looking into the matter and charges could be pending if the perpetrators are caught.
Hitting golf balls, or throwing anything off the Sun Road is dangerous, as the road switches back on itself in many locations, which means that there are motorists and pedestrians below you if you’re in the alpine terrain.
In 2001, a man accidentally fell off the Sun Road near Crystal Point and his body landed near the West Side Tunnel, hundreds of feet below.
