Family invites public to Little Library 'open house'
The Lilienthal family has converted an old newspaper box into a free little library in their front yard. Painted bright blue and yellow and adorned with old toys, figures and knickknacks, the box has free books for whoever wants to read one, from children’s books to older titles.
Folks are encouraged to take a book and leave books, as well. The box is right along the bike path at the corner of Talbott Road and Fourth Avenue West.
“We’re just trying to encourage reading,” said Cassidy Lilienthal. Her husband, Andrew, is a teacher at the Columbia Falls Junior High.
They’ll have an open house of the library on July 18 (Thursday) at 3 p.m. This will include fun summer treats, lemonade and balloons. Everyone is invited to attend.
The library is also registered at littlefreelibrary.org. There are more than 80,000 registered Little Free Library book-sharing boxes in 91 countries worldwide. Learn more at its website.
