Kats blow out Lady Pirates at home, boys fall in Polson

The Wildkats basketball led wire to wire at home Tuesday as Columbia Falls cruised past the Lady Pirates of Polson, 70-18.

Ryley Kehr scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter and Josie Windauer added eight as the Kats jumped out to a 21-7 lead after eight minutes of play.

The onslaught continued in the second quarter Columbia Falls outscored Polson 24-6 to grab a 45-13 halftime lead.

The Wildkats went on a 25-2 run over the final two quarters of the game to win by 52.

Along with Kehr’s 18 points, Trista Cowan added 16, Windauer scored 15, Savvy Ellis and LaKia Hill each scored nine, Graceanne Sevesind had two points and Peyton Rhodes scored one.

In boys action in Polson, the Wilcats trailed by just four with four minutes to play, but a series of technical fouls led to six Pirate free throws to push the lead to 10. Columbia Falls would not recover as Polson went on to win 56-45.

Drew Morgan led the Cats with 11 points while Sam Hovde added 10, William Dyon scored nine, Dillon Wanner had five points, Logan Bechtel and Brad Nieves each scored four and Dillon Shipp had two points.

In other action, the boys froshmore team beat Polson 67-59 while the junior varsity squad won 46-34. The Wildkat froshmore team won 55-22 and the JV won 65-15.
