Buzzer beater lifts Cats past Corvallis, girls win in blowout
The Wildcats used a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback and buzzer beater to get past Corvallis at home Saturday, downing the Blue Devils 48-47.
Down 47-45 with 5.8 seconds to play and needing to move the ball the length of the court, the Cats inbounded the ball to Danny Henjum near half court, who found Drew Morgan for a long buzzer-beating three from the right wing to give Columbia Falls the victory.
The Cats trailed 43-32 with 6:30 to play, but outscored the Blue Devils 16-4 down the stretch to complete the comeback, including knocking down 11-17 foul shots in the fourth quarter.
Dillon Shipp led the Wildcats with 13 points in the victory while Sam Hovde added 12 and Morgan scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. Henjum chipped in with six points, William Dyon had three, Dillon Wanner scored two and Logan Bechtel had one point.
The Wildkats led by as many as 25 in Corvallis before settling for a 50-35 win over the Lady Blue Devils.
Ryley Kehr led the way with 18 points while Trista Cowan added nine, Madysen Hoerner scored eight, Savvy Ellis had six, Josie Windauer scored five, LaKia Hill had two points and Hannah Schweikert and Lauren Falkner both scored one.
