Basketball teams split games at Whitefish
It was an up and down night for Columbia Falls basketball fans in Whitefish Thursday as they boys fell to the Bulldogs, 60-45, while the Wildkats picked up a 61-27 victory.
The Wildcats fell behind by seven after one quarter and trailed 33-19 at the half before staying even with the Bulldogs in the second half.
Drew Morgan led the Wildcat attack with 23 points while Danny Henjum and Dillon Shipp each added six.
Lee Wolburn led Whitefish with 29 points.
With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Wildkats built a large early lead in the girls game and never looked back as Columbia Falls remains undefeated. The Kats jumped out to 24-8 lead after one quarter of play and pushed that lead to 38-13 at the half. Columbia Falls closed out the game on a roll, scoring the contest’s final 14 points.
The highlight of the game came late in the fourth quarter as Kimberly Peacock made her first appearance in a game since being diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2017.
LaKia Hill led all scorers with 17 points while Ryley Kehr added 15 and Trista Cowan was also in double figures with 13.
Both teams are off until Thursday, when the boys will host Browning while the girls will take on the Lady Indians on the road.
