The Wildcats basketball team could not overcome another slow start Thursday as they fell at home to the visiting Libby Loggers, 55-36.

Columbia Falls scored just two first-quarter points and trailed 11-2 after eight minutes of play and trailed 31-25 at the half.

“Our confidence has been shaken and brought down and we have to find a way to get it back up,” head coach Chris Finberg said. “Our record is what it is, but we have played some very tough teams and we just need to regain our confidence.”

Libby’s Ryggs Johnston led all scorers with 27 points while Dillon Shipp led the Wildcat effort with 12. No others scored in double figures in the contest.

With the loss, Columbia Falls drops to 1-7 this season and 0-2 in conference play. Libby improves to 5-1 and 2-0 in the conference.

The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday as they host Polson at 4 p.m.
