Wildcats drop pair heading into district tourney
The Wildcats finished up the regular season with a pair of losses last week as they fell at home to Whitefish Thursday and on the road at Browning Saturday.
The Cats were held without a basket for more than 10 minutes to open the game against Whitefish Thursday but trailed by only seven in the third quarter before eventually falling to the Bulldogs, 60-39.
“I thought we played pretty well at times and did a good job of staying in it despite our slow start,” head coach Chris Finberg said.
Dillon Shipp led the Wildcat effort with 16 points while Dillon Wanner had nine, Sam Hovde added seven, Danny Henjum scored four, Brad Nieves had two points and William Dyon scored one.
The Cats kept the game against Browning close in the opening minutes, but fell to the Indians Saturday, 70-47.
Hovde led the Cats with 17 points in the loss while Henjum scored eight, Shipp had six, Drew Morgan and Dyon each scored five, Zack Pletcher scored four and Logan Bechtel had two points.
The Cats will open the district tournament in Whitefish Thursday evening as they take on Polson at 6:30 p.m.
