Schools talk
A public forum on the School District 6 elementary school expansion and needs is 6 p.m. Feb. 13 (tonight) at the junior high cafetorium. The public is encouraged to attend.
Plant talk
The Montana Native Plant Society will host a talk by ecologist, botanist and photographer, Lech Naumovich, on native perennial grasslands and prairies, manzanita scrub and inland dune restoration in the City of San Francisco, as well as including human communities in the process in a thoughtful and ecologically relevant manner. The talk is at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the North Valley Community Building in Columbia Falls on Nucleus Avenue and is free and open to the public. History talk
The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. The evening will include a presentation by Carolyn Wondrow from the Somers Museum. She will be discussing the history of the Somers group, how they got started and various fundraising ideas they have used and other helpful ideas for starting a museum. A meal will be served at no cost but donations will be accepted.
Baseball workouts
Winter workouts for the Columbia Falls Baseball Association will take place at Glacier Gateway School through March 15. Rookies (ages 7-8) will workout on Fridays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Minors (ages 9-10) and Majors (ages 11-12) will work our Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Both gyms will be used. Winter Workouts are optional, but all Rookie, Minor, and Major League players are encouraged to attend. Online registration for the 2019 season is available at www.columbiafallsbaseball.com and paper registration forms are available in the school office. Interlocal
The North Fork Interlocal, where North Fork residents and other interested parties meet with federal and state agencies is 10 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Flathead National Forest offices on Wolfpack Way in Kalispell. Meeting should wrap up by 1 p.m.

Ashley Trueblood of Columbia Falls recently graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane with a bachelor of arts, sociology, social service and community.
