C-Falls splits games with Whitefish

It was an up and down night for Columbia Falls basketball fanson senior night Thursday as the boys fell to Whitefish, 60-39, while the Wildkat girls picked up a 54-28 victory.

The Wildcats went more than 10 minutes without a basket to open their game against the Bulldogs, falling behind 13-1 after one quarter and by as many as 16 in the second quarter before a Dillon Wanner three gave them their first bucket with 5:35 to play in the first half.

Columbia Falls trailed 31-20 at the half and cut the lead as low as seven in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for the Cats.

Dillon Shipp led the Wildcat effort with 16 points while Dillon Wanner had nine, Sam Hovde added seven, Danny Henjum scored four, Brad Nieves had two points and William Dyon scored one.

Dillon Botner led Whitefish with 22 points while Lee Walburn added 16.

In girls action, the Wildkats jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one quarter and held a 27-7 advantage at the half as Ryley Kehr and Trista Cowan combined for 10 of the Kats’ 16 points in the second frame. The Kats pushed the lead as high as 35 in the second half as C-Falls cruised to victory.

Cowan led the way for the Kats with 14 points in the win while Kehr added 13, LaKia Hill scored nine, Maddie Robison and Josie Windauer each had five points, Hannah Schweikert added four and Lauren Falkner and Madysen Hoerner each had two points.

Mikenna Ells led Whitefish with eight points while Jadi Walburn added six.

In junior varsity action, the C-Falls boys defeated Whitefish, 45-39. Jack Price led the way with 10 points while Mikey Tamburelli had nine, Brad Nieves scored eight, Danny Henjum had six, Jake Bulawsky and Mason Peters each had four and William Dyon and Cooper Babcock each had two points.

The JV girls defeated Whitefish 42-23 as Maddie Robison scored 11, Lauren Falkner had eight, Peyton Rhodes scored seven, Hannah Schweikert had six points, Graceanne Sevesind scored five, Grace Gedlaman had four points and Madysen Hoerned had one.

The C-Falls girls will be at home to take on Browning Saturday while the boys will be at Browning. Both games are scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
