Cats Swim team ready for state tourney

The Columbia Falls swim team will be sending 18 athletes to Bozeman this weekend as the Bozeman Swim Center hosts the state meet Friday and Saturday.

The Cats will be sending 10 girls and eight boys to the meet, all of which will compete in at least three events.

Sam Pierce and Peyton Malmberg will both be competing in four events as Pierce is the team’s top qualifier in the 100 backstroke and will also swim the 100 freestyle and on the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays. Malmberg has the team’s top time in the 100 breaststroke and will also swim the 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

Also swimming in four events for the boys will be James Role and Russell Albin.

Shai Moultray and Maddy Stoddard will each be swimming in four events for the girls as Moultray will swim the 100 and 200 freestyle events as well as the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Stoddard will swim the same relays in addition to the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Swimming three events each for the Cats at state will be Rebekah Walker, Noel Royer, Emerald Templin, Azlyn Caldwell, Jayna Moultray, Alexa Millholen, Nathalia Heredia, Ella Hutcheson, Conner Cheff, Cole Coper, Colin Smith and Bailey Sjostrom.
