W. Glacier mini golf will maintain 'small town charm' company claims
A miniature golf course planned for the West Glacier community will maintain the “small charm of the village,” a spokesperson for Pursuit Collection said last week.
Pursuit actually obtained a permit for the golf course last January, Flathead County Planner Rachel Ezell clarified last week. But the land for the golf course, which will sit behind an ice cream stand and the gas station in West Glacier was cleared just a few weeks ago.
The company hasn’t developed a name or theme for the miniature golf course, said Danny McIntosh, marketing manager for Pursuit’s Glacier Park Collection.
“It’s really in development stages,” he said. “It has to maintain the small town charm of the village.”
In other words, no windmills and other animation that typically comes with miniature golf courses.
He said the plan is to have the 18-hole golf course open in the spring.
The golf course comes with other recent developments by Pursuit, including a large RV Park and cabins on River Bend Drive that opened last year and more recently, a 90-car parking lot on Old River Bridge Road.
Neighbors have objected to the increased development, noting West Glacier is already very busy in the summer, with more than half of all people who visit Glacier National Park driving through the town.
