Travel is now being allowed on Trail 80, one of the main routes through the Bob Marshall Wilderness, though no overnight camping is being allowed in the Snow Creek Fire area.

The Forest Service recently announced a shrinking of the closure area around the 1,800 acre fire.

The fire received more rain over the past week and has seen about 1.5 inches total.

“Expedited travel is (also) being allowed on the East Side South Fork main line trail No. 80 through the closure. Travelers on this section of trail are reminded that stopping, camping and travel off the trail are still prohibited. Travel on the South Fork of the Flathead River is also still prohibited,” the Forest Service announced on the fire’s inciweb web page Friday morning.

In short, there’s no stopping or camping between an area just before Black Bear south to just before Salmon Forks. Trail 100 over Pagoda Pass remains closed, as does the west side Trail 263, a portion of Trail 29, and Trail 105 up Hungry Creek to Picture Ridge. Trail 220 is closed as well.
