Trustee needed
at Deer Park
Deer Park School has one position open for a district trustee as of May 14, 2019. This position is for a one-year term. Applicants must be a registered voter in the Deer Park School District. Interested parties need to send a letter of interest to the attention of the District Clerk at Deer Park School 2105 Middle Road Columbia Falls, MT 59912. Letters must be received by Friday, May 10.
Easter egg hunt
The Columbia Falls Lions Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Marantette Park Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. The hunt is for ages infant to 12-years-old. For more information, call Ellis Hagen at 406-390-1146.
Historical Society
to meet
The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, April 18, at 6 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. Highlight of the evening will be a presentation by Larry Wilson on the history of the North Fork. A meal will be served at no cost, but donations will be accepted.
Health Fair
Columbia Falls High School will host a community health fair Thursday, April 25 from 4-7 p.m. The North Valley Hospital School Based Clinic is partnering with the school to put on the event, which will give the public a chance to meet with medical professionals. There will be booths with information on physical therapy, homeless youth information, smoking prevention, chiropractic, nutrition, yoga, blood pressure, body health and more. Gun raffle
The Columbia Falls Masonic lodge is raffling off two handguns — a Kimber 9 mm and a 10 mm for its bikes to books program which encourages youths to read and get a chance to win a new bicycle in the process. Tickets will be $10 apiece or six for $50 and will be sold from now until December, including at the Blue Moon rodeo and other community events.
Bear Aware event
Flathead Lake State Park in Bigfork will host a presentation on how to be bear aware on Flathead Lake Saturday, April 27 from 3-5 p.m. Join us at the Wayfarers unit to discover more about these magnificent mammals. All ages are welcome to join us for this free event.
Audubon field trip
Flathead Audubon will host a field trip to the West Valley Ponds in Kalispell on, Saturday April 20, from 9 to noon. Community meeting
Sheriff Brian Heino and Undersheriff Wayne BuBois will host a community meeting at Columbia Falls High School from 6-7 p.m. Friday, May 3. Topics of discussion will include school resource officers, the K9 program, future needs for service, community relations, crime statistics, citizen advisory board and more. Come be a part of the future direction of the Sheriff’s Office.
Arbor Day celebration
The Columbia Falls Tree Board and the city of Columbia Falls is having a Arbor Day celebration at noon on May 3 at Riverside Park near the new fish pond. There will be tree planting,demonstrations by USFS and state DNRC and seedlings provided to third graders from Glacier Gateway. Public is welcome!
Cinco de Mayo
St. Richard’s Catholic Church will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. The event will feature a free-will offering concert by Wai Mizutani and friends to benefit the Farming for the Future Academy. Refreshments will be served.
Fire meeting
The Glacier Hills/Martin City/Coram/West Glacier communities will have a “Wildfire and Evacuation Readiness” meeting Wednesday, May 8 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Lietz Hall, Martin City Presentations will be given by the American Red Cross and the Flathead County Office of Emergency Services. A time for questions from the audience will follow the presentations
