Soccer teams win two, ready for rematch with Whitefish
The Columbia Falls soccer teams will be looking to keep their momentum rolling this week as they play a much anticipated rematch with rival Whitefish Thursday.
The Wildkats will enter the matchup on a three-game winning streak after picking up wins over Stevensville and Libby last week.
It was all Kats at home against Stevensville Tuesday as C-Falls blew out the visiting Yellowjackets, 10-0. C-Falls led 3-0 at the half before scoring seven in the second.
LaKia Hill and Josie Windauer each had three goals in the victory while Kaylee Ashe had two and Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz and Maddie Robison each added one. Keeper Ave McDonald had five saves.
The Kats picked up their second shutout of the season Saturday as they downed Libby 8-0.
Windauer scored four while Robison had two goals and Johnston-Heinz and Graceanne Sevesind each scored once.
The boys come into this week’s matchup in Whitefish on a two-game winning streak after beating Stevi and Libby.
The Cats trailed Stevi 1-0 at the half Tuesday, but responded with three goals in the second half to pick up a 3-1 victory.
John Gilk, Reed Sandstrom and Johnny Carl all scored in the victory.
The Wildcat offense came to life at home against Libby Saturday as C-Falls picked up a 9-0 win over the Loggers.
Gilk, Sandstrom and Payton Fisher each scored twice in the win while Chance Adams and Russell Albin added one goal each. The ninth goal came off the foot of a Libby player.
The Kats will need to win by three over Whitefish to take the conference lead Thursday while the Cats will be looking to hand Whitefish its first loss of the season.
The girls’ match is set for 3 p.m., to be followed by the boys.
