The Wildkats volleyball squad made short work of both of their opponents last week as they swept Polson and Browning.

Columbia Falls held the Lady Pirates under 20 points in all three sets at home Thursday as the Wildkats swept Polson, 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

“We played fairly well against Polson — our goal was to play consistent and keep the errors on their side of the net,” Columbia Falls coach Jolandie Brooks said. “Hannah Schweikert served six aces, and she set our offense up well. Ryley Kehr, Stella Bistodeau and Mady Hoerner found ways to put the ball down. Angellica Street and Savvy Ellis controlled the back row well.”

Kehr led the Wildkat attack with 11 kills while Bistodeau and Hoerner each had eight. Schweikert recorded 27 of the Kats’ 30 assists in the win of six of the team’s 15 aces.

Defensively, Street led the way with 11 of the team’s 36 digs while Kehr added a pair of blocks.

The Lady Pirates were led by Mikaela DuCharme and Maggie Todd with six kills each.

The Kats had an even easier time at home Saturday as the cruised past Browning in three sets, 25-10, 25-19, 25-6.

Eight Wildkats recorded kills in the win, led by Kehr with eight and Hoerner’s six. Schweikert finished with four kills while Bistodeau and Street each had two and Dillen Hoerner, Lauren Falkner and Kiera Brown each had one.

Schweikert had four aces to lead the Kats’ serving attack and also led in in assists with 17 while Madysen Hoerner had three aces and Falkner added one.

On the defensive side of the net, Schweikert had five digs to lead they way while Kehr added five blocks.

The Kats were at home against Whitefish Tuesday, will travel to Ronan Thursday before hosting Hamilton (10 a.m.) and Corvallis (3 p.m.) Saturday. The Kats will also be at home Oct. 2 as they host conference-leading Libby.
