James (Jim) Garrison

James (Jim) Taylor Garrison, 99, passed away on Aug. 26, 2018. Jim was born in Vallejo, California on Oct. 31, 1918. He worked for General Mills for 47 years, residing in Vallejo, San Francisco; Portland, Oregon; Ogden, Utah and Great Falls from 1965 to 2002, where he retired in 1984.

Jim was a past president of the Ogden Lions Club and former member of Gideon’s International. He volunteered at Glacier Bible Camp in Hungry Horse and also served in several churches in Great Falls.

Jim loved God’s creation, enjoying the outdoors as an avid hunter, fisherman, hiker and camper. He especially enjoyed his summers living at Glacier Bible Camp in Hungry Horse. He also enjoyed home projects and was a talented builder and handyman.

Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie (Marge) Garrison, his seven children, Ginnie (Garrison) Wirtala, Richard Garrison, Susan (Garrison) James, David Legas, Richard Legas, Alan Legas, Jean (Legas) Allen; his sister, Ruth Marcacci (103 on Oct. 9); 22 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Jim will be remembered for his humility, abiding faith, and strong endurance.

A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 2 pm, on Tuesday, at First Baptist Church Sun Lakes, Chandler, Arizona on Oct. 30, the day before he would have turned 100.
