History meeting

The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, Nov, 15, for a meal of chicken corn chowder soup and dessert, The meal will begin serving at 6 p.m. at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. There is no charge for the meal but donations will be accepted.

A program on F.H. Stoltze and the history of logging and sawmills in the Flathead will be presented by Ron Buentemeier.

Christian women

Columbia Falls Women’s Connection will have a luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the North Valley Hospital Community Room in Columbia Falls. Guest speaker will be Jessica Dexter originally from Iowa will share her story of meeting her Montana husband and her move to Polson. Donations of nonperishable food items will be collected for the Canyon Community Church Holiday food baskets. Cost is $8 and all women are welcome to attend. Wolf trapping

Registration is open for a free wolf trapping education and certification class next month in Kalispell. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold the class on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FWP Region 1 Headquarters, 490 N. Meridian, Kalispell. This one-time certification is required for anyone who sets traps for wolves in Montana. Individuals who have been certified in previous years do not need to retake the class. To register, visit fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter and click the tab labeled, “Wolf Trapper Education and Certification.” The trapping season for wolves is Dec. 15 - Feb. 28, 2019.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber lunch is Nov. 13 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Valley Hospital Teakettle Room. Guest speaker is Kevin Abel, CEO of North Valley Hospital.

Fraley talk

The Museum at Central School will host “Rangers, Trappers, and Trailblazers” author John Fraley at 7 p.m. Nov. 15. The talk will be a fundraiser for the museum and the author will be available early to sign books. North Fork lore-masters Larry Wilson and Lee Downes as well as Middle Fork Pioneer John Schurr will be on hand.

Central School play

“Notable Heroines of America” which examines the lives on nine notable women in U.S. history will have performances at the Museum at Central School at 2 p.m. Nov. 17-18. Tickets are $20 at the Grand Hotel in Kalispell in advance or at the door.
