Graduation

The Columbia Falls Junior High School will have its eighth grade graduation party June 7. All eighth grade students will meet at the Columbia Falls Junior High at 8:30 p.m. to ride the buses to The Wave in Whitefish. The party ends at midnight and students will ride the buses back to school for parent pick up. All students must turn in a signed permission slip one week prior in order to attend the event. Permission slips can be found in the school office and the cost is $10. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Price 253-3775.

New flagpole

The Montana Veterans’ Home Cemetery in Columbia Falls is receiving an additional American flag. Funds donated by AARP Montana helped to make this a reality. The flagpole dedication ceremony for the Montana Veterans’ Home Cemetery is on Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. Hosting the dedication will be The American Legion Post 72, Columbia Falls, and the Vietnam Veterans of America, NW Montana Chapter 1087. The public is encouraged to attend.

Sumio talk

The Montana House will host local photographer/videographer Sumio Harada for another “Look, Listen & Learn” program on Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at “Kintla Camp” at Montana House in Apgar Village.

He has new video from the fall of 2017 of mountain goats, his favorite subjects, and of grizzlies feeding on a moose carcass in Many Glacier while a wolf waits for a turn. Talk is free, but reservation required, please call 406-888-5393 to reserve your seat.

Open House

Farming for the Future Academy will have an open house for its new intergenerational childcare facility at the Montana Veterans’ Home. This intergenerational childcare program will be collaborating with the elderly residents living at the Veterans’ Home. The facility has a big outdoor garden that also has sheep, chickens, ducks, a pony and a llama named Paul.
