Through April, Glacier visitation down

Glacier National Park visitation for the year through April is down about 10 percent compared to last year. So far this year about 66,783 people visited the park. Last year, that number was 73,865.

The numbers are a bit skewed, however.

Last year in April, the Camas Road was open and the park counted 4,663 visitors driving the road. This year it was closed most the month — and Glacier counted zero visitors.

Still, April was a snowy month, with most trails and secondary roads covered in feet of snow for most of April, which likely resulted in lower numbers.
