Punching their tickets to state

Several more Wildcat athletes will be headed to the Class A state track meet in Laurel May 26-27 after strong performances in Whitefish and Kalispell last week.

The boys 4x100 meter relay team of Drew Morgan, Daniel Henjum, Logan Kolodejchuk and Kaedan Klewien will be headed to state after qualifying at the Archie Roe Meet in Kalispell Saturday with a time of 44.56 seconds. The time earned them third at the meet.

Ben Windauer, who had already qualified in the pole vault, will also be competing in the javelin at state after throwing a distance of 166 feet, 9 inches Saturday. He finished fourth. Morgan, who has already qualified for state, finished third at 171 feet, 1 inch.

Windauer also won the pole vault event Saturday as he cleared a height of 13 feet, 6 inches.

Tallia Sova, who had already qualified in the shot put, will also be throwing the javelin after throwing a distance of 115 feet, 1 inch Saturday. She finished fourth in the event while teammate Angellica Street was first with a toss of 135 feet, 10 inches.

Gabe Knudsen will also be making the trip to Laurel to run in the 3,200 meter race after finishing sixth Saturday with a time of 10:11.49.

At the Ken Good meet in Whitefish May 1, Stella Bistodeau paced the Columbia Falls girls with a pair of wins in the high jump and long jump competitions. Flora Jarvis won the 100-meter hurdles, Sova won the shot put and Street won the javelin. The Wildkats dominated in the pole vault, taking the top three spots as Jenee Sandlin was first, Kara Mohr was second and Alexis Purcell finished third. The Kats also dominated the 1,600 meter run, taking five of the top six places as Genevieve Delorme was first, Lacey Johns was third, Raina Crowell was fourth, Mohr won fifth and Kailey Schrader finished sixth.

The C-Falls boys were just as dominant in Whitefish as they swept triple jump with Mike Tamburelli finishing first, Isaac Balla was second, Richard Babcock came in third, Jaxon Heinz was fourth, Caiden Graham was fifth and Aaron Trueblood was sixth. The Cats also won first place in the 100 and 200-meter dash events, the 800-meter run, 1,600-meter run, 3,200-meter run, 400 and 1,600-meter relays, pole vault and javelin.
