Bob meeting

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex will have its annual public meeting and limits of acceptable change meeting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 at the Lincoln Community Hall in Lincoln. The public is invited to attend.

Beer for lookouts

Join the Northwest Montana Forest Fire Lookout Association at the Backslope Brewing to raise a glass in support for some major rehabilitation work on Huckleberry, Loneman, Mount Brown, Porcupine Ridge and Scalplock Fire Lookouts in Glacier Park. The event is April 3 from 5-8 p.m. through the Backslope’s Community Benefit Night.

Bird talk

Flathead Audubon will offer an informational program on Black Swifts on Monday, April 9, 7-9 p.m. at the Gateway West Community Room, U.S. Highway 2 West, Kalispell. Chris Hammond will discuss this unusual neotropical migrant bird that initiates nesting in Montana when most other birds are completing their breeding season. Black Swifts are reliant upon perennial streams, waterfalls, and insect prey for survival and are considered at high risk of extirpation, due to climate change. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce meets for its membership lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 10 at the Teakettle Community Building on Nucleus Avenue. Guest speakers are folks from Glacier Country Tourism. Lunch is by Earth Angel Organics.

Ribbon Cutting

The Columbia falls Chamber of Commerce and Ron Terry Construction will have ribbon cutting ceremony for a new subdivision at Halfmoon Meadows from 5 to 7 p.m. April 24.

Bow ed

Bowhunter education class by Dave Yeats is May 17-19 in Columbia Falls. Two evening classes from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and a field course from noon to 5 p.m. May 19. For complete info, go to: fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter.

Job Fair

Columbia Falls will hold a Wildcat Job Fair for employers looking to hire high school students. The fair is 8:30 a.m. to noon at the high school April 17. To register online, visit www.columbiafallschamber.org.
