Film tour hosted by Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation Thursday

| March 20, 2018 10:43 AM

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is hosting the Mountainfilm on Tour, bringing a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films to Whitefish this month.

Curated from the films shown at the Mountainfilm festival held every year in Telluride, Colorado, the diverse selection highlights adventure, an indomitable spirit, and a responsibility for our environment and wild places. Using the power of film, art and ideas, the tour hopes to inspire audiences to create a better world.

All the proceeds will help bring over 350 volunteers into The Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex in 2018 as they work to keep trails open, manage invasive weeds, protect wildlife habitat, and offer wilderness experiences with the power to change lives and instill a land ethic.

The Whitefish event is March 22 at the O’Shaughnessy Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and films start at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.bmwf.org/events. One can also purchase tickets in Kalispell at Rocky Mountain Outfitter and in Whitefish at Sportsman & Ski Haus.

In addition to the independent films, guests can enjoy beer from The Front Brewing, snacks, and win amazing raffle prizes including passes for the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, jewelry, outdoor gear, Bedrock Sandals, jewelry, and more. The grand prize for the film festival is a Kokopelli Nirvana Packraft with Spraydeck valued at $1,000.

This community event is made possible through the generosity of corporate sponsors including The Base Camp, Bob Wards, First Interstate Bank, Freedom Bank, Mindful Designs, River Design Group, Rocky Mountain Outfitter, Sanders B&B, Sportsman & Ski Haus, Sweetgrass Psychological Services, Park Side Credit Union, and Whitefish Credit Union.
