Though the school year is barely over, now is the time for Columbia Falls students interested in being on the golf team in the fall to start working on their swing.

“The last few seasons we’ve had at least four of our tournaments before the first day of school,” said golf coach Gene Marcille, “and I think we might miss a few kids who want to try golf but wait for school to start to really start looking into it.”

Students should text or call Marcille at 406-249-3693 to get on the summer roster to qualify for summer golf opportunities, including free practice range access at Meadow Lake.

“Last year, we were very fortunate to have two of the top golf pros in the valley as assistant coaches at Columbia Falls, Marcille said. “Andrew Lettrich (Glacier View Golf Course) and TJ Ray (Meadow Lake) do a super job with kids, and anybody wanting an opportunity to learn a great game from a professional should contact them for a lesson or two over the summer. Tell them you are planning on playing for the Wildcats, and they might give you a little break on the cost.”

High school golf season starts Aug. 13, and all participants must have a sports physical to participate.
