Clayton Edward McLaughlin

Clayton Edward McLaughlin

Clayton Edward McLaughlin went to heaven on the 9th of June, 2018 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease, which he fought for 25 years. He proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years as a helicopter pilot and a fixed wing aviator. He was awarded the distinguished service cross and courageously served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam; retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. After the military, he served as a public servant for Flathead County and a volunteer pilot for Search and Rescue.

Clayton’s devotion to his country, his community and St. Richard’s Catholic Church was surpassed only by his devotion to his family. Clayton’s love for his wife, Joanne, their eight children and 12 grandchildren was illustrated through his devotion and commitment to caring and providing for them.

Clayton McLaughlin’s life demonstrated what it is to be a hero. His quick wit and sincere kindness was known to all who knew him and his love for life was evident every day of his life.

Services with military honors will be held at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls on June 14, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. with a celebration of his life to follow at Timber Creek Assisted Living - 375 Meadow Lake Blvd, Columbia Falls.
