Columbia Falls is looking for a new public works director. Grady Jenkins recently told city manager Susan Nicosia that he would step down and take a position at the city’s sewage treatment plant — a job that he held for years before becoming the city’s public works director.

The affable Jenkins has been the public works director since 2014.

The city has begun a search for a replacement.

The city also set the salaries for the top jobs in each department for 2018-19.

They are (annual, unless otherwise noted):

- Chief of police, $72,654.

- Public works director, $68,549

- Fire chief, $69,868

- Finance director, $67,164

- City clerk, $28.13 per hour

- City judge, $52,160

- Pool manager, $18.28 per hour

- Assistant pool manager, $13.85 per hour

The mayor’s salary is $400 per month. Councilmembers make $200 per month.
