Kenneth Gerald Fetters

“A life well lived, and a man well loved”

Kenneth Gerald Fetters “Kenny” or ”Pistol” as he was known to many, passed away June 10, 2018 of natural causes. Kenny was born February 11, 1931 to Leslie and Madge (Eerlocher) Fetters in Carlyle. Kenny received his education in Harlem, Montana. There he met the love of his life, Tootie Wilson and they were married June 26, 1948. Together they raised five sons and one daughter, traveled, had numerous pets including a Shetland pony, Duke, and instilled the meaning of the word “family” in the hearts of those they met.

Kenny began working at the young age of 12 in Harlem for Tubb’s Garage and Oil. While he continued his employment at Tubb’s, he also did various odd jobs in Harlem.

These included driving school bus, projecting movies at the theater, running the counter at the soda shop and pool hall to supplement his income. For fun he drove raced cars at the race track east of Harlem. His zest for life was evident early in his willingness to be a part of any adventure and was usually the instigator.

Kenny and Tootie moved to Cut Bank in 1957, where he used his business skills, intelligence and quick wit to start a successful career at Kenny’s Conoco. In 1964, he moved across the street and ran Kenny’s Union 76 until he retired in 1989. His hard work and determination provided him means to enjoy life in the mountains. He won several awards and some amazing trips which included Spain and Hawaii. After retirement he and Tootie moved to their second home in Coram. There they created a fun, beautiful gathering place to enjoy with their children and grandchildren where lessons were learned and much fun was had by everyone.

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife Tootie, his parents, four siblings and one grandchild, Jess Fetters. He will be forever remembered by his children, Jerry (Sharon), Tom (Judy), Randy (Pam), Andy (Jeannie), Dan (Kim) and Lana (Les) along with one sister Mary Fuaco; 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter, his sister-in-law (Fern) and brother-in-law (Herman).

Kenny will also be forever remembered by various nieces and nephews and friends whose lives he touched during his time with us.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m., Aug. 4, 2018 at Kenny’s cabin in Coram. As Kenny would say, “It’s all over, but the crying”
