Planners sought for elementary upgrades

| July 4, 2018 7:55 AM

Dear Members of the School District Six Community:

As many of our district facilities age, The Columbia Falls School District Six Trustees have determined that a review of our elementary facilities and how these facilities are serving the needs of our students is necessary. Community involvement and input is a crucial part of this process. The Trustees have approved a contract with LPW Architecture/Engineering to facilitate a community group in this process.

We are looking for committed parents and community members who are interested in becoming involved in assessing our future facility needs and determining the long range plan for our elementary buildings. The Long Range Planning Committee will review the age, structural integrity, and building capacity of our current elementary facilities, as well as determine the best direction to take moving forward, such as whether to add to or remodel our current facilities, and/or build a new structure.

The community process will begin in September, the members will meet monthly, and based on their findings, will provide a recommendation to the School District Six Board of Trustees in January or February of 2019. The board will vote on the proposed recommendations and determine if a bond issue should be placed on the May ballot.

If you are interested in participating in the community process and becoming a member of the Long Range Planning Committee, please call Marie at the District Office, 892-6550, Ext. 1422, and leave your name, address, phone number and email address.

Thank you for your interest in School District Six.

Sincerely,

Steve Bradshaw
