Metals class

Rod Cogliati will teach a fun introductory to metals class at the Columbia Falls High School for 10 weeks. The Wednesday night classes run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Columbia Falls metal shop, starting Feb. 7. Cost is $100. Participants will learn basic oxyacetylene brazing, welding and cutting; electric arc welding — both stick and gas. Other metal working procedures will be done based on student interest. Bird event

Montana State Parks will host “Love at First Flight” at Flathead Lake State Park – Wayfarers on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.

Celebrate the season of love with your love of nature at this family-friendly Valentine’s event. Make bird-seed feeders, experiment with colorful chemistry, and go on a short guided hike to learn about some of the famous “love birds” in the natural world around us.

The program will be held at the Flathead Lake Ranger Station in the Harry Horn Day Use Area at Wayfarers. All ages are welcome, but the activities are most appropriate for families with elementary-aged children. Cost is $4 per person, or $10 per family. Space is limited. Cabin Fever Days

The Trapline Association announces another fun-filled weekend for the whole family at the 40th annual Cabin Fever Days Feb. 9-11. There are many different events taking place at multiple locations throughout three small communities of Hungry Horse, Martin City and Coram. Martin City is the location of the World Famous Barstool Ski Races starting at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Racer and sled regulations can be found at www.cabinfeverdays.com. The organization encourage friends, families and businesses to put a sled together and get in on creating the next generation of community fun.

Funds raised from the events go toward a host of Canyon charities and causes.
