Ex-student faces charges after creating fake Instagram account of teacher
A former student from Columbia Falls is facing criminal charges after allegedly creating a fake Instagram account of a junior high teacher and the sending out what police termed as “inappropriate” posts.
School District 6 Superintendent Steve Bradshaw said the perpetrator was caught after some of the teacher’s students reported it to her. The perp took the teacher’s picture off a school web site to use as a profile picture on Instagram to make the fake account look real.
Columbia Falls Police Chief Clint Peters said the ex-student, a juvenile, made several “inappropriate” posts before being caught.
Instagram is a social media platform for sharing photos and videos.
Police are pursuing charges in the matter.
Peters noted that it’s relatively easy to create a fake Facebook or Instagram account in another person’s name.
