Martin City man pleads not guilty to attempted homicide charge
A Martin City man who allegedly fired 28 shots from a rifle into a Hungry Horse home recently pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted deliberate homicide in Flathead County District Court.
According to court documents, just before midnight on Sept. 8 of last year, Bryan McCully fired rounds from an assault-style rifle into a Hungry Horse home. Prosecutors claim he did so with the intent to kill the person inside, identified as “D.W.”
Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded and found bullet holes through the walls, windows and interior walls of the house. D.W. claimed that some of the bullets flew past his head.
McCully and his friends Austin Gravelin and Makiya Cross were at the same bar as D.W. Cross and D.W. apparently had an earlier dispute. The bartender threw out McCully, Gravelin and Cross, thinking a fight would break out.
Officers were called to the scene and McCully allegedly said, “no matter what, I’m going to hurt (D.W.) tonight.”
About an hour later, McCully allegedly shot up D.W.’s house.
A jury trial in the case has been set for April 2.
