Another winter storm pummeled the region over the weekend. Heavy snow fell in West Glacier on Friday and Saturday, with blizzard conditions late Saturday as another arctic cold front spilled over the Continental Divide.

Snowfall totals ranged from a foot in valleys two feet or more in the mountains.

In West Glacier, there’s roughly four feet of snow on the level — the snow is level with the top of the fence at the Apgar horse pasture. A reader in East Glacier Park said the snow is even deeper there — about six feet on the level.

The front brought frigid temperatures. West Glacier dropped to 19 below zero on Monday night. St. Mary dipped to 24 below and Polebridge was 34 below. The Glacier Park International Airport dropped to 18 below.

The storm was great for the snowpack and powder hounds. The Flathead River Basin snowpack is now 143 percent of average. Noisy Basin in the Jewel Basin leads the way at 166 percent of average.

This weekend temperatures should moderate a bit back into the 30s, with a chance of even more snow.
