Sherry C. Shortell
After a long, hard-fought battle with COPD, and later cancer, Sherry Shortell opted to go home and be with her Lord and Savior Jesus. Sherry was born in Superior, Nebraska, March 22, 1948 to parents Charles H. and Glenna Mae Bridewell. As a child, she and her siblings traveled with their parents throughout the Northwestern states following work and construction.
She attended schools in Idaho, Kalispell, and Alberton. She married Sid Stryker in 1964, and from that union were born five children. They were later divorced in 1975.
She married Daniel Shortell in December 1995; they enjoyed life together to the fullest. Sherry was passionate about flower gardening, hanging baskets, wind chimes, birds and critters. She enjoyed the time she spent in Alaska. She was a loving and caring mother and especially loving grandparent. Sherry loved and cared about all the people she knew as friends. She treasured the last three “sister only reunions.” She treasured her friendship with longtime friend Mary Kaye and husband Carl. She was especially thankful and grateful for her membership with The Fellowship Alliance Church of Columbia Falls and each of its members. Sherry was preceded in death by both her parents, infant daughters, Cindy and Larena; son Greg Stryker, brother Ray Bridewell. She is survived by her husband Daniel, son Marty Stryker, daughter Darby Stryker, granddaughters Cedar Hardy, Haven Hamilton and Jayden Hamilton; sisters, Muriel Mead and family of Alberton; Laura Nash and family of Roseburg, OR; Glenda Garrison and family of Frenchtown; Gwen Pederson and family of Missoula; Tammie Coalter and family of Colorado; sister-in-law Susan Bridewell and family of Columbia Falls.
She will be dearly loved and truly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place, private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and cards a charity donation of own discretion can be made. Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish is caring for the family.
