Swim team competes at state

Several Columbia Falls swimmers set their best times of the season at the state meet in Great Falls over the weekend as the both the boys and girls teams finished fourth among Class A competitors.

“I am very proud of the team and proud of how we swam,” head coach Emily von Jentzen said. “It has been an amazing season with so much improvement by all of the swimmers.”

The top individual finishes for the Cats came from Kelton Thomas in the boys 50-yard freestyle, where he finished 17th with a time of 24.63, and in the 100-yard backstroke, where he earned 16th with a time of 1:02.67. Russell Albin was 18th in the boys 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.28, Emerald Templin was 18th in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:35.75, Sam Pierce was 19th in the boys 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:22.27 and Kailey Schrader finished 19th in the girls 100-yard breaststroke, setting a new school record with a time of 1:19.43.
