The American Legion Freedom Post 72 recently held its New Year’s potluck on Jan. 27 in the basement of the North Valley Eagles. Special guests were Lorie Noble, president of Unit 138 and District 4 commander Glen Sharbono, both of Ronan. They were awarded certificates of appreciation for their work in Ronan and for the help they’ve given Freedom Post 72. Also receiving an award was Gerald Schumacher, retired Army, for the work he did on the “Wall that Heals” in Kalispell in September.

Job Fair

Columbia Falls will hold a Wildcat Job Fair for employers looking to hire high school students. The fair is 8:30 a.m. to noon at the high school April 17. The fair is free to businesses. To register online, visit www.columbiafallschamber.org.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce will meet at 11:45 a.m. at the Teakettle Building on Nucleus Avenue Feb. 13.

After hours

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly business after hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Oddfellows Coffee House across from City Hall. There will also be a ribbon cutting.

Fire meeting

FireSafe Flathead and Flathead Valley Community College are hosting a four-part community lecture series on wildfire and home safety in Western Montana. Bird event

Montana State Parks will host “Love at First Flight” at Flathead Lake State Park – Wayfarers on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.

All ages are welcome, but the activities are most appropriate for families with elementary-aged children. Cost is $4 per person, or $10 per family. Space is limited. Please pre-register by calling the ranger station at 406-837-3041.

Jazz concert

Glacier Gateway fifth graders from Mrs. Jones’s, Ms. Colleran’s and Mr. Van der Weide’s classes will present “Jazz – A Swingin’ Celebration on the Ski Slopes” on Friday, Feb. 23 at 1:45 p.m. in the Little Theater. A complimentary reception for students, parents and guests will follow the afternoon performance.
